About the instructor

A short story is like a poem: it captures an ephemeral moment, a fleeting feeling and it can stay with you forever. It also has a form – it’s short! In this online six-week workshop on the short story, we will examine the different forms short stories can take and how they have always been a way to address the unaddressable. Melissa Lozada-Oliva is the author of peluda, Dreaming of You, Candelaria, and Beyond All Reasonable Doubt, Jesus is Alive! She teaches fiction at the Center for Fiction, Mccormack Writing Center, and Columbia University.
